ऐसियांते कैसेनि मारूं I कवणावरी शस्त्र धरूं I निज हृदया करूं I घातु केवीं II 221 II
हे नेणसी तूं कवण I परी पैं भीष्म द्रोणI जयांचे उपकार असाधारण I आम्हां बहुत II 222 II
एथ शालक सासरे मातुळ I आणि बंधु कीं हे सकळ I पुत्र नातू केवळ I इष्टही असती II 223 II
अवधारीं अति जवळिकेचे I हे सकळही सोयरे आमुचे I म्हणोनि दोष आथी वाचे I बोलतां II 224 II
"Arjun said, what would I do of the victory and kingdom won by slaying my relatives and kinsmen? How can I enjoy the riches of such a kingdom founded on the corpses of my loved ones? No, it is not acceptable.
Facing Pitamah Bhishma and Guru Dron on the battlefield Arjun said, they are the people I love more than life itself. Their presence and well-being are more important to me than my own life. Then how would it be worth living if it is founded on slaying them? Is it worth if the son so desired in the family puts the life of his elders at stake? How can we even think of being ruthless with them? On the contrary one must do all things necessary to ensure that their elderly, loved one feels cherished and taken care of properly.
Sometimes destiny has something else in store than what is meant to be. So it happened that today our elders who would have been very happy had we won all the kingdoms of ten directions stand before us as our enemies for an all out war.
Caught in the immense moral conflict and hesitation to fight, Arjun turned to Lord Krishna for His wisdom and asked, how can he bring himself to kill Pitamah Bhishma and Guru Dron, the people of highest respect and reverence so dear to him? Is not striking them same as striking his own heart?
Besides them the others that included maternal uncles, brothers, sons, grand-sons, fathers-in-law are also not strangers and therefore talking ill of them would be inappropriate."

"Arjun said, let the Kauravas' do anything they want, even kill us but we wouldn't even think of doing any harm to them. We would not go for it even if it would make us the ruler of the three worlds. Who would respect us if we do such heinous act? And above all said Arjun to his beloved Lord Krishna, the most painful thing would be not able to meet your eyes."

का सकर्दम सरोवरु I अवलोकूनि चकोरु I न सेवितु अव्हेरु I करुनि निघे II 231 II
तयापरी तूं देवा I मज झाकऊं न येसी मावा I जरी पुण्याचा वोलावा I नाशिजैल II 232 II
"The sin of slaying our kith and kin won't allow us to be near you and so we would lose you.
Just like the Kokil bird abandons the forest as soon as it is on fire or the Chakor bird doesn't stay in the muddy lake for long, you would leave us as soon as you find that we have abandoned our righteousness."

"Arjun tells Lord Krishna that he is not ready for war and do not want to take up weapons against his own kin because he finds it wrong in many ways. My beloved, he said, we can't afford to lose you because to lose you is to lose everything.
We enjoying the riches of the kingdom on the death of Kauravas' is impossible, said Arjun."
