"As death approaches, a person's body undergoes various physical changes as the vital functions slow down. Gloominess thickens inside the body, the feeling of melancholy intensifies and becomes more profound. The whole body becomes stiff as wood, there is a memory loss, agitation of mind and the vital life force suffocates. With the radiance of the inner fire gone, the smoke pervades and blankets the conscious self. Just like when the pregnant clouds heavy with rain shroud the moon, it's neither totally dark or completely lit, one is caught in the nearly unconscious state as death nears. At last life awaits death. There is a sense of futality regarding the toils of life. This was all about the internal turmoil. Externally too the night time, Krushna Paksha, the dark or waning phase of moon and Dakshinayan, the period of the Sun's southward movement, considered to be six months long signify that dying during these periods can lead to rebirth rather than liberation. The person who dies at these inauspicious times, even if he is a yogi, goes to Chandra Lok. It is not a permanent abode like the spiritual realms, but rather a temporary sojourn for those who haven't achieved Self-Realization. This is the inappropriate time of death. That which makes the endless cycle of death and rebirth inevitable is called as "Dhumra Marga". The best is the Archira Marga that is entirely different. It is the easy way to Moksha, the Liberation."
