पूर्वीं अमृतही हाता आलें I परि देव नसतीचि उगले I मग काळकूट उठविलें I शेवटीं जैसें II 403 II
परि तें एकबगीं थोडें I केलिया प्रतिकारामाजीवडें I आणि तिये अवसरीचें तें सांकडें I निस्तरविलें शंभू II 404 II
आतां हा जळता वारा कें वेंटाळे I कोणाही विषा भरलें गगन गिळे I महाकाळेंसीं कें खेळें I आंगवत असे II 405 II
ऐसा अर्जुन दु:खें शिणतु I शोचित असे जीवाआंतु I परि न देखे तो प्रस्तुतु I अभिप्राय देवाचा II 406 II
जे मी मारिता हे कौरव मरते I ऐसेनि वेंटाळिला होता मोहें बहुतें I तो फेडावयालागीं अनंतें I हें दाखविलें निज II 407 II
अरे कोण्ही कोण्हातें न मारी I एथ मीचि हो सव संहारीं I हें विश्वरूपव्याजें हरि I प्रकटित असे II 408 II
परि वायांचि व्याकुळता I ते न चोजवेचि पांडुसुता I मग अहा कंपु नव्हता I वाढवित असे II 409 II
"Kauravas, the sons of blind King Dhrutarashtra, along with their allies who are the rulers of other kingdoms, You are grinding and swallowing them all, leaving behind none. Also swallowed are rows and rows of elephants, countless cannon gunners and foot soldiers. There are weapons personifying death, each capable of destroying the universe. You are swallowing countless of such weapons. Entire army with four divisions: elephants, chariots with horses attached, cavalry, and infantry, You are swallowing them all in one gulp without even the teeth touching them. The joy You derive by doing this is unfathomable. No one is spared, not even Bhishmacharya known for his unparalleled valour and a vow of lifelong celibacy, his unwavering loyalty and sacrifice to the Kuru dynasty and Guru Dron, the preceptor and mentor and an exceptionally skilled archer and a warrior, possessing knowledge of many divine weapons (astras). Also gulped is Karna, the son of the sun and a formidable warrior. Many warriors from our army are swept off like dust particles. Sometimes the outcome is entirely different from what you anticipated. The same thing happened as seeking to behold the Vishwaroop turned out to be a harrowing experience. It is like you try to do something good but adverse things happen. My wish to see the Vishwaroop has brought the universe on the verge of total destruction. Earlier in the narrative of divine opulences and glories, there were glimpses of it. Yet I insisted to behold the Vishwaroop for broader comprehension. Whatever may be the reason what is destined happens. Certain events are predetermined and unavoidable, influenced by fate. I was destined to be blamed for subjecting the universe to the sufferings due to Vishwaroop, be the catalyst for it, so it happened. During Amrut Manthan, the churning of ocean along with Amrut, the deadliest poison Kalkut also came up. It was Lord Shiva who drank the deadly poison Halahal to save the universe. This poison turned His throat blue. But the upheaval due to the Vishwaroop Darshan seems to be more terrifying than that. Who can control the scorching wind and poison full sky? Who has the capability to confront the Maha Kal, the greatest destroyer of the worlds? In this way Arjun was immersed in grief and so was unable to understand what Lord Krishna had in mind. The very purpose of displaying the Vishwaroop was to help Arjun get rid of the delusion that the Kauravas are going to die by his hands. Through the Vishwaroop Lord conveyed to Arjun that the one who "slays" and the one who "is slain" are both mistaken. It is only Me doing the destruction. But Arjun couldn't understand that his fear was entirely baseless. His shaking grew and the restless mind instead increased his fear."
