"Lord Krishna said, I do agree that control of mind is beyond the scope for those who are not dispassionate and also do not make any conscious effort in that direction. However if we do not follow the path of Yama-Niyamas', Yamas', the moral restraints or ethical guidelines for social conduct, and Niyamas', the personal observances or self-discipline, never even remember dispassion, remain immersed in the ocean of senses and their gratification and never make any conscious effort to control our minds, how can the mind be ever steadied? And therefore start with engaging the mind in activities conducive to attaining control of the mind. Your inability to practice it can be understood, but to say that control of mind is not possible cannot be true because Yoga is an established practice. The fluctuations of mind, its constant roving nature is trivial before the might of Yoga, for even the Supreme Realization is within its reach. Arjun replied, all that You said is so true. Indeed Yoga is the effective way to control the mind. However it was our lack of awareness about Yoga, that kept us enslaved to the whims of mind. It is Your Grace O' Beloved Lord that aquainted us to Yoga."
