"Describing a Sanyasi Lord Krishna said, for such a person there is no dwelling in the past because for him whats gone is gone. Neither there is any greed for things he cannot have. His mindset is as resolute as mountain Meru known for its stability. The "I, Me, Mine" sense doesn't dwell in him even subtly. The person who has reached this state has mind open to everything, but attached to nothing. His ecstasy ceases not. That said, to be detached does not mean running away from life, family, society, one’s duty and responsibility, or being less sensitive or loving, etc. A truly detached one does not neglect any of this; but rather selflessly loves and serves the Divine in them and expands that love and service to all other beings without any sense of bondage or emotional attachment. Just like the cloth doesn't catch fire even if it is wrapped over the ash left behind by the fire, a true sanyasi lives amidst the world yet remains unruffled by its happenings. That's why sanyas or true renunciation comes true only when the person reaches the state of mind of living in the world but not of the world. For this reason I said that Renunciation and Karma Yog go together said Lord Krishna to Arjun."
