"The one who has no biases, treats a friend and an enemy equally regardless of who extends hand of friendship or who is hostile. The lamp doesn't make distinction in its illumination between acquaintance and stranger. The tree provides it's soothing shade to all irrespective of who cuts it or who sows it. The sugarcane tastes sweet to all. It doesn't make discrimination as sweet to the farmer who nurtures it and bitter to those who crush it to extract sugarcane juice. Similarly the true devotee doesn't make distinction between friend and enemy, so to honour and dishonour. He is as temperate as the sky is in all three seasons. His equanimity, the stability and composure not disturbed by experience of pain or pleasure is just like the Meru mountain that holds ground firmly despite the forceful winds of north and south. Just like moonbeams are impartial and shine on all things equally, king or a pauper, similarly he shows respect and fairness to all regardless of differences. Just like water is worthy of being served by all, he is aspired by all three worlds. Desireless from inside out he who remains absorbed in the Self."
