"The outpouring love of Lord Krishna for Arjun is as exhilarating and fulfilling as that of a barren woman having a son in her old age. Indeed it's a great paradox because on one hand while there is a discourse of Non-duality on the backdrop of a fierce battle, on the other side there is duality manifested in the form of Lord Krishna absorbed in His love for His Beloved Arjun. Just like it is not pure love if it is accompanied by awkwardness, or one does not get tired of an addiction or its not madness if one does not forget self, similarly Lord Krishna's friendship with Arjun was unconditional. Arjun was like a mirror of Lord Krishna, His joy blossomed within. That made him the most auspicious of all. It must have been the positive karma or spiritual merit accumulated from good deeds and virtuous actions in his previous lives, that he became the recipient of the Grace of Lord Krishna and hence became like a fertile soil ready for sowing the seeds of devotion.
Navavidha Bhakti, meaning "ninefold devotion," are the nine ways of expressing love and devotion to God. The second from last is Sakhya Bhakti. Sakhya implies friendship. It is experiencing a loving and intimate relationship with God as a friend. Arjun therefore should be considered as a Presiding God of the Sakhya Bhakti. The praises of Arjun even before Lord Himself speaks highly about Arjun. So much favourite Arjun was of Lord Krishna. Sant Dnyaneshwar said, the thought of praising Arjun was just like a virtuous wife devoted to her husband is praised by all. Arjun's accumulated merit from past lives was highest in all three worlds. The Formless Supreme Lord, Krishna manifested exclusively because of His Love for His Beloved Arjun."
