"Lord Krishna said to Arjun, let me now illustrate the importance of physical posture, the ideal posture for yoga practice. You sit with your knees bent, folded tightly with the calves, the soles of feet turned upwards putting pressure at the seat of Muladhar Chakra by the sole of left feet supported at the bottom by the sole of right feet. The Muladhara chakra, also known as the Adhar Chakra, is located at the base of the spine, specifically in the perineal area, between the anus and genitals. The middle of this area that is in the form of a seam is then pressed by the back side of heel balancing the body. The bottom end of spine is then lifted gently and held along with both the ankles. In this way Parth said Lord Krishna, the whole body rests solely on the top of the heel pressing on the Muladhar Chakra. This is the description of Mula bandha Asan, also commonly knows as Vajrasan.
Normally Apan Vayu flows downward. But with Mula Bandha, it creates a plug to prevent this leak and redirects this energy upward, unifying it with Prana Vayu."
