 अध्याय ४


II श्रीराम जय राम जय जय राम II


जो सकळकर्मीं वर्ततां I देखे आपुली नैष्कर्म्यता I कर्मसंगें निराशता I फळाचिया II 93 II
आणि कर्तव्यतेलागीं I जया दुसरें नाहीं जगीं I ऐसिया नैष्कर्म्यता तरी चांगी I बोधला असे II 94 II
तरी क्रियाकलापु आघवा I आचरतु दिसे बरवा I जो तोचि तो ये चिन्हीं जाणावा I ज्ञानिया गा II 95 II
जैसा जो जळापाशीं उभा ठाके I तो जरी आपणपें जळामाजिं देखे I तरी तो निभ्रांत वोळखे I म्हणे मी वेगळा आहें II 96 II
अथवा नावे हन जो रिगे I तो थडियेचे रुख जातां देखे वेगें I तेचि साचोकारें जों पाहों लागे I तंव रुख म्हणे अचळ II 97 II
तैसें सर्व कर्मीं असणें I तें फुडें मानूनि वायाणें I मग आपणपां जो जाणे नैष्कर्म्यु ऐसा II 98 II
आणि उदोअस्ताचेनि प्रमाणें I जैसें न चलतां सूर्याचें चालणें I तैसें नैष्कर्म्यत्व जाणे I कर्मींचि असतां II 99 II
तो मनुष्यासारिखा तरी आवडे I परी मनुष्यत्व तया न घडे I जैसें जळाधारें न बुडे I भानुबिंब II 100 II
तेणें न पाहतां विश्व देखिलें I न करितां सर्व केलें I न भोगितां भोगिलें I भोग्यजात II 101 II
एकेचि ठायीं बैसला I परि सर्वत्र तोचि गेला I हें असो विश्व जाहला I अंगेंचि तो II 102 II


"The one whose actions are without desire or expectation of results and the actions are solely governed by his doing the prescribed duties diligently is living in the world but not of the world. It is like the person seeing his reflection in water knows that he is not his reflection. For the passenger travelling by boat, the trees on the riverside appear to move backwards fast. Yet the fact remains that trees don't change their position. Similarly the one who realizes his change-less-ness in the changing reality is truly desire-less.
Living in the world but not of the world is like the immobile sun manifesting as sunrise and sunset.  Just like the reflection of the sun in the water remains untouched by it, the truly desire-less lives amidst the worldly activity, actively participates in it, yet remains unattached to it all, having mind open to everything but attached to nothing. Staying at one place the truly desire-less is omnipresent becoming one with the Supreme Reality."
