"Often the things seen in a dream seem so real. Yet after waking up, it never happened. So is Maya, the powerful force that creates the cosmic illusion that the phenomenal world is real. Your delusion of attachment is because of Maya, said Lord Krishna to Arjun. Maya is That which is Not.
Just like the body remains unharmed even when it's shadow is hit by the weapon.
When the water pot is turned upside down, the reflection of the sun in the water may be lost but the sun remains untouched.
The sky seen from the hut appears to be of the size of the hut, yet without the hut, the sky is as all encompassing as it is. In the same way even if the body is destroyed, the soul remains untouched. And therefore don't hold the soul responsible for the destruction of illusion, the unending cycle of death and rebirth."
जैसीं जीर्णें वस्त्रें सांडिजे I मग नूतनें आणिकें वेढिजे I तैसें देहांतरांतें स्वीकारिजे I चैतन्यनाथें II 144 II
"As a person sheds worn-out garments and wears new ones, likewise, at the time of death, the soul casts off its worn-out body and enters a new one."
हा अनादि नित्यसिद्ध I निरुपाधि विशुद्ध I म्हणऊनि शस्त्रादिकीं छेदु I न घडे यया II 145 II

"The Supreme Soul is without the beginning. He cannot be confined within the boundaries. He exists at all times past, present and future. He is impeccably flawless. And so it can never be cut into pieces by any weapon. The floods at the worldly deluge cannot wet Him. Wind cannot dry Him, and Fire cannot burn Him. The all pervading immovable Supreme Soul is everlasting, eternal and immaculate said Lord Krishna to Arjun."
