"Amazed by Arjun's reply Lord Krishna said, while conveying the Buddhi Yog, I told you Dnyan Yog by Sankhya as well. But you didn't comprehend either and therefore you are feeling so agitated. But please know both these pathways were revealed by Me since time immemorial. Out of these the Dnyan Yog is followed by Sankhya and it's realization helps the jeev (individual being) to become one with the Supreme being. The other is called as Karma Yog, the path to spiritual liberation or moksha performing selfl-ess actions for the benefit of others. These two pathways may seem distinct, but ultimately they serve the same purpose. It is just like that the ultimate purpose of the uncooked food and the cooked food is to feed the pangs of hunger. Just like rivers from east and rivers from west eventually merge into the ocean becoming one with it, so are these two pathways Dnyan Yog and Karma Yog, for both seek the Supreme Realization. Each follow their own course. The bird flies to the fruit and plucks it. Man too can do it but not as directly as the bird. He has to move towards the fruit slowly with firm resolve to get the fruit. By Dnyan Yog the Sankhya attain moksha quickly just like the bird flying to the fruit and plucking it directly while for those who follow the Karma yog, the practice of performing daily tasks with complete dedication, without attaching to the outcomes, they too attain moksha in the course of time."
