II श्रीराम जय राम जय जय राम II

स्मृति तेचि अवयव I रेखा आंगिकभाव I तेथ लावण्याची ठेव I अर्थशोभा II

"Different Smruti's are the limbs of Lord Ganesh. The reflective contemplation of the wisdom of Vedas manifests as His splendour."

II श्रीराम जय राम जय जय राम II

II श्रीसद्गुरूचरणार्पणमस्तु II

The Shruti and the Smruti are the two authoritative sources of Hinduism. Shruti literally means what is heard, and Smruti means what is remembered. Shruti is revelation and Smruti is tradition. Upanishad is a Shruti. Bhagavad-Gita is a Smruti.

Shruti is direct experience. Great Rishis heard the eternal truths of religion and left a record of them for the benefit of posterity. These records constitute the Vedas. Smruti is a recollection of that experience.
