II श्रीराम जय राम जय जय राम II

देवा तूंचि गणेशु I सकलार्थमतिप्रकाशु I म्हणे निवृत्तिदासू I अवधारिजो जी II 2 II

'The Dnyaneshwari' is a reflective contemplation on the Bhagavad Gita by the Marathi poet and saint Sant Dnyaneshwar in  1290 CE. Sant Dnyaneshwar, the disciple of Sant Nivruttinath, his elder brother and the mentor (Guru) initiates this commentary praising Lord Ganesh who symbolizes wisdom, understanding, and a discriminating intellect that one must possess to attain perfection in life.

He says, Lord Ganesh is Lord of the people. Gana means “group, the community."
Whenever there is a summation, a collectivity, a community, a Sangha, Lord Ganesh is the ruler. For example, Ganesh is the leader of the pancha jnanindriyas (the five organs of sense perceptions) and the pancha karmindriyas (the five organs of actions). Who rules this Sangha of Indriyas? Ganesh! When we invoke the Ganesh energy, these become purified.

Ganesh is the presiding deity of Muladhara Chakra, which has four petals — manas, buddhi, ahamkara and chitta. If the four functions of the mind are unruly or go on strike, who do we talk to? The union leader – Lord Ganesh.

We may need to reflect upon and contemplate, with sincerity and devotion to assimilate the meaning of Lord Ganesh."
