"And then there are those who practice self-control as diligently as a yadnya, exercising the ability to consciously manage and regulate one's physical actions (body), verbal communication (speech), and thoughts (mind), essentially maintaining control over oneself in all aspects of behavior and expression.
When dispassion dawns, it is renunciation by self control that embodies the detachment from worldly desires through the relinquishment of material pursuits and attachments. With the roaring fire of dispassion the past impressions catch fire like dry wood, the desires thus drain out in the form of smoke thus cleansing the Panchendriyas', five buddhi-indriyas or Jnanendriyas and five Karmendriyas (sense organs that deal with the bodily functions)."
