"Lord Krishna said, in ignorance, the soul, deluded by false identification with the body, thinks of itself as the doer. It is the Maya, the cosmic charmer which makes us forget our true self, gives rise to the emotional attachment and creates the duality "I am the doer", where there is none.
The three Gunas – Sattva, Raja and Tama bind the essentially immortal Atma (self) to the (mortal) body. It means, as long as the soul is bound to trigunas, the cycle of Karma will continue birth after birth. Listen to me Parth he said, even if one consciously refrains from doing their prescribed duties, the natural course of action of the sense organs do not stop. Do the ears stop hearing? Do the eyes stop seeing? or the nose stop smelling? Do the inhale and exhale of the breath stop? Does the chitta become so resolute and unwavering that one may forget even the basic desires such as hunger and thirst? Do the dreams cease when fast asleep? Or do the awakening from sleep cease? Do the legs forget walking? Above all even the cycle of death and rebirth doesn't stop. If none of these things are possible then what is the relevance of saying that "I am the doer"? And therefore Arjun said Lord Krishna, the Karma is inevitable under the spell of Maya. When you ride in a car, you sit idle inside. Yet the motion continues even if you do not do it yourself. Similarly just like a dry leaf falling off a tree is carried away by the wind, Maya drives the organs of action to do Karma however beyond action and inaction the person may be.
All in all Karma and Maya are inseparable. On this background those who stubbornly insist that Karma can be renunciated makes no sense."
