"Lord Bramha created the world, other things and people to live in it. They were supposed to follow their prescribed duties diligently or pursue their Swa-dharma like Nitya-Yadnya. Unable to comprehend it's subtleties however they requested Lord Bramha to guide them about how they should go about. He described varna as a personality type that determines a person's prescribed duties, or Swa-dharma. The four varnas are Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, and Shudra. Swa-dharma is the duty that is in line with a person's nature. Lord Krishna reminded Arjun of his Swa-dharma which is in being a Kshatriya i.e. a warrior. He is a fighter from inside and hence it will not suit him if he does not fight. It is going to torment him throughout his life if he leaves the battlefield without fighting. Follow your Swa-dharma like a yadnya diligently and there will be no need of any ritualistic rules and regulations, penance, going on pilgrimages, yogic practices, tantra practices or offering prayers. Following Swa-dharma is performing one's responsibilities with full dedication and effort, but without being overly concerned about the results or personal gain just like a wife takes care of her husband without expecting anything in return. Lord Bramha further said, if you follow your Swa-dharma with dedication, it will reward you like the wish fulfilling holy cow Kamdhenu. It is the best thing to hold on to."
