"Lord Krishna said, Karma Yogi (someone who performs actions with detachment, focusing on duty and selfless service rather than the results) and Sanyasi, the person detached from worldly attachments are the same. Beyond their duality of names, Yog is Sanyas itself. And principally there is no difference between them either. In practice just like we call the same person by different names or different paths lead to the same destination; or just like water remains same even though it is filled in different vessels, similarly Yog and Sanyas are, different only in names, but same in their essence. Arjun, said Lord Krishna, in the truer sense Yogi is a person who understands that actions are an inevitable part of life and focuses on performing them with dedication and a sense of duty, rather than being driven by the desire for specific outcomes.
Just like plants and trees originate from the earth, yet earth doesn't claim their harvest. Everyone has a unique role or duty based on their nature and qualities, which is their Sva-dharma. The one who performs these duties with dedication and focus, not out of attachment to the outcomes, but as a form of service or offering to the all encompassing Supreme should be called a Sanyasi in the truer sense, and such a person is a Great Yogi too.
On the other hand those who do not understand the true meaning of Sanyasi and instead pursue it as a ritual, do their karma one after the other just like anointing the body immediately after the previous layer has been washed off, fail in its very purpose. Living in the world itself is no small ordeal, then why should one burden himself additionally with Sanyas? And therefore Karma Yog is best suited because it attains balance between rituals involving fire as well as following the prescribed duties diligently."
