"Lord Krishna said, you may find it difficult to follow Swa-dharma, yet it leads only to betterment. Follow your Swa-dharma diligently but do not change it because someone else may be doing something else. The duties of others may seem attractive from a distance and we may think of switching, but that is a risky thing to do. If they conflict with our nature, they will create disharmony in our senses, mind, and intellect. This will be detrimental for our consciousness and will hinder our progress on the spiritual path. However vulnerable a brahmin may be, does it mean he should eat even the delicacies at the shudra household? Why should he get involved in such an act that is absolutely unacceptable? How can he desire this? And even if his desire may compel him to do it, should he? Think of this carefully asked Lord Krishna to Arjun. Seeing other's beautiful houses, should one give up their modest accommodation? Just like the lady of the house is it's grace however plain-looking she may be, similar is Swa-dharma, which may appear to be full of hindrances and also difficult and challenging to implement yet is beneficial in the end in every way. Milk tastes sweet when sugar is added to it. However adorable this mixture may be universally it needs to be avoided by those who suffer from worms. Despite this if one consumes it, it will be no less than inviting trouble. And therefore doing the karma which may suit others but not you needs to be avoided. And even if life is lost while doing Swa-dharma it turns to be fruitful in both worlds. So said the Supreme Lord Krishna who holds Sharang, the celestial bow in his hand, to which Arjun asked Him, Lord, I listened attentively everything you said. But still I would like to know more."
